表象文化研究について
この社会を人体に喩えるならば芸術・文化は血液のようなものです。血液がない肉体が生存できないように社会もまた芸術・文化がなければ無味乾燥なシステムだけの容れ物でしかないでしょう。ひとは生まれてから死ぬまでただ食事をし排泄する、労働し消費するだけの存在ではありません。人間の出会いや別れの中に喜怒哀楽が生まれ、それを舞台や映像、絵画・音楽やことばなどで表現することで生の喜びや死の儚さを体験します。このような創造・表象行為が文化として社会を有機的にし人生に意義をもたらすのです。
この研究所ではこのような表象文化を研究し社会の文化的資産として還元する目的を持ちます。
If this society is compared to a human body, art and culture are like blood. Just as the body cannot survive without blood, society would be nothing more than a tasteless system without art and culture. From birth to death, people are not just eating, excreting, working, and consuming. Joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure are born in human encounters and partings, and we experience the joy of life and the fragility of death by expressing them on stage, in video, painting, music, and words. These acts of creation and representation are what make society organic as a culture and bring meaning to life.
The purpose of this institute is to study such representational culture and return it as a cultural asset to society.
